On a recent survey I found that when renters of cars do not take out rental insurance, they have all sorts of concerns running through their heads.
For example, Pablo from Chile, told me when he was in the UK, he decided to not take insurance, and as a result was worried about where to park the car. Leaving the car in narrow London Street was not an option for fear of it being scratched or the side mirrors being clipped (like Gill experienced in Naples)
He was also very worried about where he’d leave the car overnight, again given the fear of damage or theft which would result in a hefty excess fee being applied (given no insurance was taken). He opted to park the car in more expensive and secure car parks to give him peace of mind, but ironically, the higher cost parking likely exceeded the cost…
